Grabbed a few hours today to take photos so started off at the viewpoint but drizzle and hazy so not good for distant landscapes so had to make do with some local scenes.
I headed home but decided on a quick visit to a local bird hide just in case, not a lot of action but as I sat there relaxing along came a woodpecker and decided to have a feed so I was lucky enough to capture a few images.
I have to say the stabilization on the 50-140 is superb and an absolute dream when coupled with the XT2 - a magic combination that works no matter what it is presented with.
I worked for the US Government in West Berlin for 11yrs as a Photojournalist, I returned home in 1991 and continued in photography until 2001. I hope all who visit this site enjoy the photographs and appreciate what can be achieved using various equipment brands and a mix of photos taken with a variety of different sensor sized cameras. I must add that all images on this site are small JPEG so do not reflect the true quality of the original Raw conversions.

Abstracts of nature
Just another dull day but as I needed some fresh air I ventured out with the XT2+50-140 and grabbed some abstract photos of nature.

Weston-Super-Mare
My wife and I took a trip to Weston today so we could get some clear fresh sea air and hopefully clear the lungs.
It was very grey, overcast and a little misty when we left home yet when we arrived at Weston it was bright with some blue sky and clouds and we even had the occasional appearance from the sun!
It was a good opportunity for me to try out the new 50-140 f2.8 lens while Sheila was doing her round of the shops!!
I am delighted with this lens, very fast to focus and quiet and wide open it is razor sharp - I can see this being one of my most used lenses.
These are images with the new lens taken today.

The Duathlon
There was a Duathlon (run - cycle - run) happening today in our local park and as my daughter was taking part I headed up to support her and grab a few images.
It was very cold out in the open area and even colder with the wind chill factor, add to that the constant threat of snow but luckily only a very few flakes.
Some very muddy people so I was glad I had the XT2+55-200 with me.
