Nature at Lower Moor reserve and Clay Hill lakes

I have been out at Lower Moor nature reserve on a couple of occasions recently in the hope of seeing the otters again but no such luck, it has been really quiet lately with just a few photo opportunities.

I have also followed up these visits with a trip to Clay Hill and a walk to the lakes where I have seen Heron's and Egret's and yesterday captured a pair of Roe deer so well worth the effort.

Gloucester quick street shots

We were in Gloucester yesterday as my wife was delivering a talk on our time in Berlin and the "Fall of the Wall" (using some of my photos) so I had about an hour to walk into the city and grab some street photos.

It was very contrasty lighting but I managed to come back with a few photos I am happy with.

I have converted them to B&W as I feel the lighting and contrast works better than in colour.

Final Tornado pass over Brize Norton

I was at RAF Brize Norton on Wed for the final pass of the Tornado GR4's before they are decommissioned.

I grabbed a couple of shots of static aircraft on the apron as well as a C-17 taxying and taking off before the 3 tornadoes arrived.

Not the best of weather as it was overcast with some haze but I still managed to get some photos and had a good laugh with some of the 30+ other photographers all waiting for the arrival.

Lower Moor reserve & Clayhill.

Back to Lower Moor again to see if the Otters were about - nothing!

I sat in the hide chatting to another photographer and there was no sign of anything until eventually a heron decided to do a low pass so I could grab a couple of images.

I headed over to Clayhill to see what was about and got talking to another photog there as well, since Cullimore has started draining the lakes the wildlife has been concentrated into small areas and this did allow me to get some shots of the white egret.

At least I got fresh air and exercise and a few images.

Westfield shopping centre

We paid a visit to Westfield shopping centre recently and after some time in the shops I left my wife to continue looking around and headed to the streets for some people photos.

I headed to Shepherd's Bush open market and found some interesting characters to take pictures of.

A great day without the stress of driving into London.
