I was out and about yesterday and decided to take a break from photographing dragonflies and other insects and focus on some of the wonderful flora that is out this time of year.
I walked around one of our local villages and also took a couple of photos of older buildings with character as well as a photo of what must be one of the greatest collections of garden gnomes around.
I worked for the US Government in West Berlin for 11yrs as a Photojournalist, I returned home in 1991 and continued in photography until 2001. I hope all who visit this site enjoy the photographs and appreciate what can be achieved using various equipment brands and a mix of photos taken with a variety of different sensor sized cameras. I must add that all images on this site are small JPEG so do not reflect the true quality of the original Raw conversions.

Snakes and flying insects
I have been back at the nature reserve again recently and the other day was lucky enough to come across a grass snake basking in the sun, I was moving slowly and quietly and managed to get close enough to grab a couple of shots before he sensed my presence and disappeared into the undergrowth.
I also managed to grab some butterfly photos as well as another female emperor dragonfly laying her eggs.
My main challenge of the visit was to capture some images of flying dragonflies and I am happy with the results.
All in all a couple of good days of photography, exercise and fresh air.

Food festival in town
We had a food festival in town over the weekend, plenty of mixed stalls in the market place as well as in the Abbey grounds.
The weather was superb and there was an amazing mix of food and drink - I purchased a couple of Pork with Chicken and cranberry pies (2 for £6) and they were huge and very tasty!
We called into the church to light a few candles for people we have lost and there was a gent playing the church organ so I grabbed a photo of him and the memorial candles before heading to the lake to check on the status of the signet and it was looking well.
We then headed back through town and home to enjoy the pies!
